Offer to pay refused

A friend and I have been trying to work with this company to clear up student loan payment issues and clear a co-borrower contract. They are rude, use foul language, and threaten jail time.

An offer of payment was made on the condition that the money be sent to their account through a banking institution in an effort to ensure payment tracking (as the demeanor, language, and lack of interpersonal skills exemplified by this employee raised questions about legitimacy and future payment obligations.) We were told that the payment had to be made by credit card or personal money order only and that we were in no position to demand anything...in essence refusing to accept payment.

When another request was made to provide information allowing us to deposit money or have money transferred through a bank, this very rude agent hung up. Somebody should really look into their business practices.

I would keep track of who you spoke to and what you said. I may even go as far as keeping a detail log of all transaction with this company.

You may not like it, but they are right. You are in no position to demand anything once you let your payments go to collections.

They don't even have to sue you to garnish wages for student loans. But you will find that out for yourself soon enough.

they can not garnish your wages without a court order and to obtain a court order they have to take you to court.

Your account of this experience sounds familiar to me. My mom cosigned a Sallie Mae loan for her granddaughter and granddaughter has been delinquent for many years now.

NES has contacted my mom stating they have been given authorization by Navient, an offshoot of Sallie Mae, to try and collect. I had a lawyer call and they immediately came up with an amount that would settle this once and for all but it had to be IMMEDIATELY, like that day. Well, that wasn't going to happen. She simply cannot come up with $29,000 in a day.Lawyer called again a few days later and asked for a release letter stating that if mom makes this payment then she is released from this debt and any further collection.

Well, he said he wasn't authorized to do that. So lawyer wants to call Navient and asks the NES rep. to give him a phone number. Rep.

doesn't really want to but does eventually. Lawyer calls Navient and gets cut off from call, calls back and asks to speak with the person he was originally talking with and can't seem to get connected with her. Eventually he speaks with someone else and they say that NES does have authority to collect on their behalf. I come to find out that granddaughter also has a lawyer and she claims that Sallie Mae says this account is not in collections!!

Needless to say we are going to do nothing for now.

Let them try and sue.

I am having to deal with this company due to my student loans. When I call them to talk to them about making payments they tell me that it is my fault and that I don't have the option to make payment arrangements. They want me to conference call in someone to help me pay thousands of dollars. Who has that kind of money just laying around? The worst part is they try to talk down to you like you don't know what you are talking about. I hate that I have to deal with this company at all.

Preferred solution: talk nicer to your customers maybe people would be easier to deal with.

I don't understand why they won't let me make a payment!!!!!!! They wanted to conference in someone on my phone call too.

They wanted thousands of dollars up front. I can't imagine how nasty my next phone call will get. Be civil. Student loans can get out of control!

They are very ghetto - No, you may not axe me a question.

I can't believe this company.

Taking unauthorized payments numerous times from my checking account.

I have a very serious problem on my hands right now regarding National Enterprise. They contacted me back in March and they threatened me about my student loan being past due. They also tried to get me to pay at least half of it off immediately which I told them I could not do. Then they told me that I had to make a payment before the end of the month. At that point, I did authorize them to take out ONE payment from my checking account. Since this time they have been taking out UNAUTHORIZED payments from my checking account. I contacted my bank and discussed this with them when I realized National Enterprise had been doing this every month since March 2014. They took out two payments in July and three here in August already!!! My account is overdrawn because of it. The bank is investigating the issue, but this is HORRIBLE!!! I don't know how to put a stop to this unless I close out my checking account and then open up a new account. I'm thinking class action law suit here. Anybody else?

This company is NOT legitimate. They called and didn't even ask for a specific person, just asked if I had a student loan.

I do but it is paid to a different loan company and has been for 14 years (law school, single federal loan). I have never missed a single payment and in fact pay double the amount each month to reduce the principal amount faster (I have a military security clearance which depends on having no past due debts) They then asked for my SSN, which there was no way in *** I was providing some random caller who didn't even know to ask for me by name. My research indicates they are a scam debt collector who demands money and then pays nothing toward any student loans.

I contacted my actual loan servicing company and they confirmed the scam. Beware!

I had a situation where they gave me a deal of paying half of my balance ($2800), which would settle my loan. I sold items that had sentimental value, as well as an old motorcycle in order to get the money together.

I got it, and paid. Turns out, they lied to me and the loan company had not offered me a settlement.

So I sold very sentimental items, Items I planned on giving my children, for no real reason.

I'm still fighting with the student loan company over this.

Oh no!! I just came across this after completing a settlement plan with NES.

It has posted on my loan company's website, but I'm now worried that there is no settlement agreement in place. I will be calling them to verify this tomorrow. I'm afraid I will be in the same situation.

Thank you for posting this. I wish I would have seen this sooner.

National Enterprise Systems - Rude Service Review from Salem, Oregon

I been getting phone calls from This National Enterprises company staying that they were sent my Sallie Mae account after it defaulted. My loan was 11,000 dollars they were asking me for 8,000. They also tried to get me to say my social or my date of birth. I have never hard if this company and have not gotten anything in the mail from them. My loan also went to a different company that I am in contestant with. They were very rude and they threatened me if I didn't give them the fill amount. And when that didn't work they did they could work out a payment plan but they had to have a $1,000 down payment that minute then changed it to by the end of the month. Then changed again song they could take the thousand in two installments. On top odd them telling me to borrow it the tried to get me to tell them about my 401k. I called my mom and she did research on the company and found a hundreds of things from the attorney general and better business bureau about them bring sued for fraud and harassment and their main games is using sallie mae loans. I have called sallie mae and they told me my loan was still with the other company. Some one needs to shut this business down.

Was this other company Navient? When a Sallie Mae loan that my mom cosigned went into default Sallie Mae kept sending mom statements and phone calls were made.

This went on for YEARS in the hopes that granddaughter, the recipient of said loan, would work this out,but it hasn't happened yet. Eventually Sallie Mae turned the loan over to Navient and for another 2 years the calls and mailings kept coming, some calls being very rude and pressing mom for credit card numbers. Thank

God she never did that. Anyway, she has gotten a letter from NES and I got in touch with a lawyer.

Come to find out that granddaughter has a lawyer and she claims that Sallie Mae is saying that this loan is NOT in collections so I don't know what the *** to think. NES was very eager to settle with mom and thank god we didn't send them any money.

National Enterprise Systems - Debt Collection Review from Ottumwa, Iowa

NES, otherwise called National Enterprise Systems. They called my mom and outright lied to her trying to contact me.. They told her they were trying to contact me regarding some financial assistance & I had given them my folks # as a reference. Also that I would in no way be upset or in trouble by contacting them. In fact it would make me very happy. They are a debt collection agency. Yes, I have an old debt, but don't lie about it

National Enterprise Systems - Unauthorized Business Trasactions Review

I received a voicemail regarding an "affidavit" that I supposedly filled, but when I called, they told me they previously had an account for me, but it was closed. They wouldn't tell me what kind of account or what they had called me for and when I asked what kind of work they did, they said, "different business transactions" and I got upset and told him to stop playing games with me, which set him off and he became much more rude and dismissive. I was late in paying my student liab, so why not own up to the fact that you're a collection agency? Pretty shady!!

I have been having problems with this company as well. I had authorized them to withdraw one payment from my checking account earlier this year, but they keep withdrawing money from my checking account that has not been authorized. I called my bank and discussed the problem with them, and they are working on it, but this is the third time in the past two weeks that they have done this!!!

Incessent phone calls to a school for a parent

Updated by user Mar 31, 2014

For some reason the location defaults to Holtsville, NY. The location of the incidents is Baltimore, MD.

Original review Mar 31, 2014
I work for a school and NES continues to call and attempt to use trickery in order to reach someone who is a parent here. They have tried the old "payroll has refered them" trick and the "hey, I'm an old friend of...", and as soon as they know I'm on to them, they resort to rudeness and threats. I have told them repeatedly that the person they are looking for does not work here and to remove this school number from their records--that they are harrassing. After the latest call this morning, I got the person to give me his name and number, as if I were going to deliver the message, and called back and told him directly to stop calling this number, that this person does not and never has worked here. We'll see if it takes, although I doubt it.

Very Rude and Sounded like a Scam/Fraud

I received this a call from thi company and a woman by the name of Ms. Williams is telling me that she is calling me on behalf of my student loan with Sallie Mae. I googled her phone number and a lot of reviews said the same thing. I told her that I would call Sallie Mae directly since I felt more comfortable talking to them instead of some company I have never heard of. I called Sallie Mae and settled everything up with them and they said my account has never been sent off to anyone. I called National Enterprise to have them remove my info and I talked to 3 different people with the worst attitude. They kept threatening me that they would garnish my wages even after I told them I just spoke to Salie Mae. They still wanted me to pay them, so that I would be paying twice on the same student loan. They were very rude and I would not do business with them.

Poor Customer Service!

I call to tell them I lost my job. The man says so you decided to not pay us! "You should pay your bills on time and you would not be in this situation"! Again I say I have no job. He says so what do you want us to do. You cant pay your bill and you dont want to" " Thats fine they'll garnish your wages and drop you from this program." As I got madder I said did you not hear me I lost my job?.. He says "So when can you make payment" I dont know yet, "Well if you dont know or are not going to pay us you answered your own questions!" At this point I gave up and told him to have a good day. I got nothing handled and I have more issues. Look NES NO One wants to be late on payments, no one wants to have you call them and belittle them, no one wants to be in debt, we definitely dont want the harrassing phne calls and absolutely NOT one of Your Employees is better than any of your customers! Yet when you talk to them on the phone they are rude and arrogant, as well as unprofessional. We call to take responsibility for actions not to be ridiculed because we have had some hard times. May you never know what hard times, and scrounging for a dollar really mean!!

My parents borrowed $ from Sallie Mae back in 2005 so that I could attend college. They were paying my loan, and last year told me they were unable to pay.

The loan went in to default. I take responsibility for the loan now. I'm extremely appreciate of the many years they paid into it. Now I have to pay the balance.

I have fallen on hard time, Like many others. I know this is no excuse, everyone has hard times right now. I made an agreement with Nes of a one time payment for $4200. I went to my personal back to take a loan out to pay them ASAP.

My bank is taking a few days to get things cleared up. NES has called me several times a day, this is beyond harassment. They are literally yelling at me over the phone. The head manger of the floor (Thats what he called himself) raised his voice.

I understand that people say "Yeah, I'll pay" and never do but I told him I would provide him with my banks name and number, and loan officer # so he can personally call if he didn't believe me. He disregarded my offering and just continued what I would call is threats. I hand a faxed copy of an agreement that this gentleman sent me saying I have until such date to full fill my end, I still have two more days, and he's calling saying "Where's my money?". I'm young, I want to keep my credit good.

This loan is in my mother's name, me not paying won't affect me. But it will affect my Mother, I want to settle this debt I don't want this guy calling 10 x a day. I think he LOVES to harass. I find it funny to cause I actually called him back today when he stated in the call he would be calling back TOMORROW, I just wanted to talk to him to let him know "hey, I'm here" I'm not running or avoiding you....

STILL he was extremely RUDE!! I'm sure no one will pay attention, this man won't be called on his behavior, and my comment will be over looked, and I will be called a loser or whatever. But I just wanted to let people know if you are paying off your debt, and are on time like you promised DO NOT let this company make you crazy with 20 calls a day saying "YOU better pay ME"...

They make commission of these debts they settle.

Hoping you will see this soon, but this company is known to be a bunch of filthy liars - they obtain your information and scam you into giving them money under the pretense that it is going towards a loan. IT IS NOT.

Deal directly with your loan company when dealing with student loans.

Student Loan

I have been receiving harrassing phone calss from this company on my cell phone and at the school where I work. I have been making my payments but they are not in the amount that NES thinks I should be maiking. They have tried to harrass me into borrowing against my retirement or to postdate a check for $3200. If I had that kind of money on hand, I would have paid my loan off already. I was under the impression that as long as payments to my account were being made, they had to accept those payments. In a time span of ten minutes I received 6 phone calls from these rude people.
